This comes after the release of last year's latest entry in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The fifth Pirates movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, was released in May of 2017. While the film introduced the next generation of characters, it could have also ended the series there and would feel complete.
